Abia State University bans students from bringing their private vehicles onto the campus.

 
 

The ABSU administration issued an official statement prohibiting all students, with the exception of lecturers and accredited visitors, from driving their cars onto campus, signed by the registrar. 

 

 


 

This comes in the wake of news of Nigerian young boys and men going through derogatory means to acquire wealth, including killing young girls and carting away their body parts.

 
 

The institution in their letter expressed that it banned the use of cars by students and "flagrant display of wealth." They explained that it was in the interest of the university and that students who went ahead disobeying the law would face a disciplinary committee.

The prestigious university is located in Abia State, Uturu, and was founded by Sam Mbakwe in 1981 with the motto, "excellence and service." Actress Benita Nzeribe, Miss Nigeria 2013, Bella Akudo, former House of Representative, Honorable Ossy Chinedu Ehiriodo, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, Popular Actress and Comedian Chigul, Comedian Ikenna Ogbonna, popularly known as Dauda, Nollywood Actress Miracle Godwin, and popular skit maker and comedian Zicsaloma are among the university's notable alumni.
