One of Nigerian President, Buhari's closest associates, Isa Funtua, is dead. Reports have it that he died in Abuja this evening July 20 after suffering a heart attack at age 78.

 He was the life patron of Newspaper’s Proprietors Association of Nigeria (NPAN) and Chairman of Bulet Construcion company. He was the founding Managing Director of Democrat Newspaper.

He will be buried according to Islamic rites Tuesday July 21.

Political associates have taken to their social media to Express their feelings concerning his death. Former presidential aspirant Ben Murray Bruce wrote,"I am saddened by the death of my brother and senior colleague Mallam Isa Funtua I Spoke to Him just three hours before His reported death and he promised to further call me tomorrow. I pray that God comforts His family and loved ones and may His Soul rest in peace."


Bashir Ahmed who is the president's PA on new media, wrote, "President @MBuhari condoles with family members government and people of Katsina State on the passing of His longtime friend and associate. Malo Ismaila Isa Funtua The President prays to Allah for repose of His Soul and to grant the family strength  & fortitude to bear the loss."


The former Senate president of Nigeria Bukola Saraki wrote, "Inalilahi Wa Ina Ilaehi Rajihun. I condole with His Excellency President @MBuhari GCFR, on the death of Alhaji Ismaila Isa Funtua. 

As a valued associate of my late father,
Alhaji Funtua always made himself available as a fountain of wisdom."
