Burna Boy’s security shoot at two people over fight about a woman


Five police officers linked to musician Damini Ogulu, popularly known as Burna Boy, have been arrested for attempted murder after shooting two men, Irebami Lawrence and Tolu, at Club Cubana on Victoria Island, Lagos, on Wednesday, June 8. 


According to Punch, the trouble began when the singer and five police escorts arrived at the nightclub around 4 a.m. on June 8, according to a preliminary report from the Bar Beach Police Division. Four police officers waited outside as one of them, Inspector Ibrahim, who was dressed in mufti, escorted Burna Boy into the club.

According to various witness testimony, the artist was in the VIP section with three women when he spotted another woman, according to the publication. He allegedly told Ibrahim to invite the woman to come with him. The lady was, unbeknownst to him, with her husband, who became enraged and accused the singer of making passes on his wife while he was with her. 


Burna Boy allegedly made new passes at the woman after a few minutes. This upset her spouse even more, as did his buddies at the club.

“As things were getting heated, Ibrahim brought out his service pistol and shot multiple times while Burna Boy was laughing,” said a senior policeman 


Lawrence, 27, was shot in the leg during the incident, while his friend Tolu was struck in the head by a bullet. There was a ruckus in the club as a result of this. 


Burna Boy and his entourage then drove to one of his houses around the Elegushi end of the Lekki-Epe Expressway before heading to Lekki Phase 1 according to reports.

“Aware of what he had done, Burna Boy took the next flight out without even informing the policemen. He only made a video call to them to inform them that he had traveled to Spain. All his police escorts have been arrested and are currently at the Command headquarters,” said a top source at the office of the Lagos State Commissioner of Police.

A popular figure onTwitter and musician known as Flowolf  took to Twitter to narrate that the men shot at were his friends returning from overseas for a wedding and he invited them to Club Cubana.

Burna Boy is yet to release any official statement yet concerning this unfortunate incident.
