Marcus Rashford, a Manchester United footballer, is going to marry Lucia Loi, his childhood sweetheart, after proposing on their vacation in California.
On Wednesday, May 25, Lucia said yes as the Manchester United player went down on one knee to ask the big question.
They've been dating since they were 15 years old, when they were both students at Ashton on Mersey School in Greater Manchester.
Rashford announced the engagement on Instagram, posting a photo of the couple hugging in front of a heart-shaped archway while standing on a bed of white roses.
The high school sweethearts had been together for eight years until the Covid epidemic caused a breakup due to difficulties.
However, in January of this year, the two declared that they had reunited.
The announcement of the engagement comes just days after Rashford won the British Book Awards' book of the year award for his non-fiction debut.
