Kim Kardashian nearly missed out on obtaining the iconic Marilyn Monroe’s “happy birthday Mr. President” gown for the Met Gala 2022.
Kim K was originally denied the request to wear the gown after a first fitting gone wrong. When Kim's team contacted Ripley's Believe It or Not in Orlando, Florida, the dress was on display there.
Kim and the museum, according to TMZ, didn't like how the garment fit her. Because the outfit is 60 years old and so delicate, the museum refused to let her use it.
Kim returned a month later, 16 pounds lighter, to try again. She was subsequently allowed to wear the gown on the red carpet at the Met Gala 2022 on Monday night themed "In America: An Anthology of Fashion," "Gilded Glamour and White Tie.
Kim walked around the red carpet alongside her beau in the original dress and took photos in it, but changed into a replica for the main event inside.
The gown, which has been returned, will be displayed at Ripley's in Hollywood, CA, along with the other accoutrements she wore to the Gala.
