Markle's visit to the little village was unannounced, and the residents were taken aback.

As she strolled around looking at the memorials to the victims, the Duchess of Sussex folded her arms. Her outfit consisted of pants, sneakers, and a baseball cap.

According to a representative for the Duchess of Sussex, Meghan made the journey in her personal capacity as a mother, to give her sympathies and support in person to a community dealing with terrible tragedy.

On Tuesday, an 18-year-old shooter wearing bulletproof vests lost control of his car in a ditch close to the school, then entered a classroom and locked himself inside after evading law authorities, murdering 21 people.

This comes as Thomas Markle, Meghan's 77-year-old father, recovers from a stroke.
