Harry Maguire, the captain of Manchester United, has received a bomb threat to his home.
The threat was reported to Cheshire Police, who carried out a search warrant at the United player’s home, where he lives with his two young children and his fiancee Fern Hawkins.
Maguire's representative said: "Harry has received a severe threat to his family's home in the last 24 hours.
"He has reported this to the police who are now looking into the matter. The safety of his family and those around him is obviously Harry's number one priority.
A statement from Cheshire Police read: "On Wednesday 20 April, Cheshire Police were called to reports of a bomb threat at an address in the Wilmslow area.
"No evacuations took place, but as a precautionary measure a police explosives dog has attended the address this afternoon, Thursday 21 April, to conduct a search of the gardens and surrounding area."
The threat came in the form of an email, according to The Sun, threatening to plant a bomb at Maguire's family home, where he lives with his girlfriend Fern Hawkins and their two girls.
The threat against the United captain comes at a time when his on-field performances have been widely questioned by fans and commentators.
