Peter Nwachukwu, the widower of Osinachi Nwachukwu, the murdered gospel singer, has refuted charges that he abused her while she was alive.
Last Friday, April 8, the well-known vocalist passed away.
She was said to have been in a coma for five days before her death. Peter allegedly subjected the dead, who was a main singer at the Dunamis International Headquarters in Abuja, to domestic violence, according to family members, children, and acquaintances of the deceased.
The FCT police command detained Nwachukwu on suspicion of culpable homicide on Sunday, April 10.
Nwachukwu said his late wife had been suffering an illness since November of last year, speaking from police detention.
He claimed to have taken her to the Federal Medical Center (FMC), then to Gwagwalada General Hospital, and finally to National Hospital, where she died. He didn't specify what her disease was.
Nwachukwu was handcuffed and escorted to their matrimonial house by the State Criminal Investigations Department (SCID) to produce evidence of the hospitals he claimed to have taken his deceased wife to for treatment.
Today, April 13, an autopsy will be performed on the late Osinachi's body to ascertain the reason of her death.
