The highlight of the 94th Academy Awards was when Oscar winner Will Smith walked right on stage and smacked the host, Chris Rock, for making a joke about his wife's hair.

In the course of hosting, Rock made a statement saying: "I love you Jada, see you in G.I. Jane II," because of her hair, and in the movie G.I. Jane, Demi Moore was bald.

Jada now battles alopecia, which she revealed via Instagram back in December. Jada rolled her eyes at the joke, while Will walked right on stage and smacked Rock right in the face. Rock responded by saying, "Will Smith just smacked the sh-t out of me," and the crowd could be heard laughing, thinking it was all part of the joke. Smith responded, "Keep my wife’s name out of your f-cking mouth," and repeated the phrase, and the whole crowd fell silent.

Will Smith then received an Academy Award for Best Actor for his role in "King Richard", saying: "Art imitates life—I look like a crazy father, just like they said about Richard Williams. But love will make you do crazy things. "

He continued, telling the audience what fellow nominee Denzel Washington said to him moments earlier: "At your highest moment, be careful; that's when the devil comes for you."
And his final remark before leaving the stage was, "I hope the Academy invites me back."

The actor has since responded by tweeting "whelp" on Twitter, while his son Jaden seems to be in support of his dad with his tweet that read, "and that's how we do it."

Chris Rock has hosted the Academy Awards three times now, first in 2005, 2016 and now in 2022.
