Hushpuppi, a popular Nigerian socialite, is expected to be sentenced on Valentine's Day, February 14.

Hushpuppi, real name Ramon Olorunwa Abbas, was popular for posting his lavish lifestyle on a regular basis, leading Nigerians and his followers to believe he was in the real estate business.

The Instagram celebrity, also known as billionaire Gucci blaiso, was apprehended by Dubai police in June 2020 and extradited to the United States for alleged business email compromise, scam, and money laundering.

According to the PUNCH, his sentence was confirmed by the US Attorney's office for the Central District of California and Thom Mrozek, the court's director of media relations.

Hushpuppi pleaded guilty to scam and money laundering charges, according to a plea agreement document. He was also accused of conspiring with two North Koreans and a Canadian to launder $14,700,000.

Hushpuppi could face a 20-year prison sentence, three years of supervised release, and a fine of $500,000 or more, depending on the gross gain or loss from the crime he committed.

In addition, the FBI has been asked to investigate suspended Deputy Commissioner of Police Abba Kyari, who was implicated in assisting Hushpuppi in laundering $1,000,000.
