The National Association of Resident Doctors threatens to embark on an indefinite strike starting June 15, the reason for embarking on the strike being over unpaid COVID-19 allowances.

This was announced by the President of the National Association of Resident Doctors, Dr. Aliyu Sokoba who advised the government to make improvisations on who to treat the patients in their absences the strike will be indefinite, apologising to the Nigerian populace and patients ahead of time, they disclosed that no emergency case will be treated after they have embarked on the strike.

They expressed anger over the fact that, their salaries were unjustly cut in state governments, they asked that there should be provisions for funding medical residency training in the 2021 appropriation bill, they demanded money and allowances owed to them to be paid, no payment of COVID-19 induced allowances, and that the government should provide life insurance for doctors and health workers.
