The Resident doctors embarked on a Nationwide strike due to unpaid debts and other complaints, leaving behind only those that work with COVID-19 patients, the strike took effect on June 15, after a 14 day Ultimatum given to the Federal government.
The President of the Resident doctors announced this in a National Executive meeting in Abuja, by person, Dr. Aliyu Sokomba.
The organisation said it took the decision in order to enable the government time to fulfill outstanding demands following an appeal by the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum and other stakeholders.
