In summary of the statement, according to Ms. Seyitan Babatayo,  Dbanj raped her and after coming out to publicise it, she was forcefully detained without a warrant but her mother was not arrested. The policemen who arrested her pretended to be delivery agents, She was kept in a cell for 2 days, She was released to D'banj and his team who took her somewhere secret and intimidated her, forcing her to delete her tweets and bragging he could buy anyone in the Lagos justice system.

"Yesterday, Monday the 22nd of June 2020, I, Ms Seyitan Babatayo formally made a criminal complatnt of rape by Mr Oladapo Daniel Oyebanjo popularty known as D'banj at the Gender Desk at the Nigeria Police Force Lagos Force Command Headquarters, Ikeja Lagos. This comes otter trying unsuccessfully in the past to give a detailed account at my experience at Bar Beach Poke Station, Victoria Island on the 6th June 2020. That attempt was thwarted by an officer of the law at the said Police barracks.

Unfortunately, my experience is not an exception. but rather the norm where survivors of rape and sexual violence or their families who attempt to report such incidents are often met with frustrating processes and also sometimes threatened by the alleged perpetrator with sufficient backing from the POLICE and a good number 0f members at the society. Sometimes, even their own family members.

Luckily to me, I have the enormous and unwavering support of my family, especially my mother. Her strength and support is one of the few things that has kept me going," she wrote in the first three paragraphs.

This comes days after D'banj posted a video on his Instagram dancing to one of his songs, his caption read, "innocent until proven guilty, stop social media court," he wrote.
