Imo state records its first Coronavirus death as confirmed on Wednesday June 10, by the Chairman of the COVID-19 Taskforce in the state, Professor Maurice Iwu. 

Prof Iwu disclosed that the deceased had an underlying health issues before he was brought to the isolation centre, as a result, complicated his chances of survival.

He further disclosed that the state has 12 active cases in Orlu and Owerri Isolation Centres.
He also raised concern that residents of Imo state no longer wear their face masks and if they continue to do so the number of coronavirus cases will increase. 

Prof. Iwu said that the committee will try to locate and isolate everyone that has come in contact with the positive cases.
