A petrol tanker caught on fire on Kara bridge in Lagos state in the early hours of today June 21.

The tanker was transporting petroleum products when some of its contents spilled on the road and ignited a fire.

This is not the first time such occurrences is happening on this bridge and Lagosians feel something needs to be done.

Federal fire service tweeted, "UPDATE: Kara Bridge Fire, men of the Federal Fire Service are already at the scene. Please vehicular movements should be halted around the area."

The damages caused by the explosion is still unclear yet but some Twitter users who stay close to where the incident happened said that some cars caught in fire also, as it was early in the hours of today, were hoping the death casualties are minimal.

The eye witnesses say that a loud bang was heard before the tanker went into flames.
