Governor Simon Bako Lalong in a press statement disclosed that one case of COVID-19 has died and he died even before his test came out as positive. 

In his Statement he said, 10 cases had been discharged and been successfully treated including the index case, he blamed the increase in the Coronavirus cases in the state to the lack of obedience to the border closure imposed in the state as some people have forced themselves into the state at all costs and promising to ensure that the border closure restrictions is tightened.

In his statement, "As of today, we have successfully treated and discharged 10 infected persons Including the index case who have all been recruited with their families. 

"The other 22 infected persons are still undergoing treatment and in stable condition. Sadly, one suspect whose sample was taken died yesterday before his result positive. 

"This has exposed the state to more dangers of COVID-19 as virtually all the cases we have recorded, originated from other states and were imported by people who defied our directives and entered the states at all costs.

He gave new directives on the lockdown days in state, Monday to Wednesdays are Locked down and Fridays to Sundays the lockdown will be relaxed.

"With effect from May 17, 2020 the lockdown will resume from midnight of every Sunday and be relaxed on Wednesdays Midnight. This will henceforth pattern until further review. In other words, the total lockdown is relaxed on Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays, While Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays remain locked down."

The Governor further stated that Farin Gada Market located in Jos North Local Government area has been shutdown due to non-compliance with orders, failure to sanitize and social distancing. He further stated that 601 Almajiris (Qur'anic Education Students) back to their home states.

He also Condoled with the Family of Rinji, a young boy killed by Soldiers due to misplaced identities.
